The lake
Its length of 27 km and a volume of nearly 200.000.000 m³ makes the “Edersee” one of Germany´s three largest man-made lakes. Mainly the Edersee was accumulated as a water reservoir, although it is also used for high-water regulation and environmentally friendly production of electricity.

Water sports
The Edersee has ideal conditions for most water sports. Plenty of fish and the ruins of sunken villages attract divers and anglers alike. Rent one of the rowing boats or pedal boats and explore scenic bays. Pack your picnic basket and swimsuit!

Fishing
Anglers will be delighted about the high amount of perch, pike and zander. Pikes with a weight up to 40 pound have been caught. On the Edersee, trolling is allowed in the off season. Ask for our special off-peak season prices!
